Extend Your Product Pages: Using Alpha's Custom Accordions, FAQs and Product Pairings

The Alpha ecommerce theme significantly enhances the standard WooCommerce product editing screen by integrating custom settings. These additional features allow you to add dynamic content, such as custom accordion tabs (for shipping info, etc.), product-specific FAQs, and curated related products, helping you deliver a richer shopping experience.

Where to Find the Custom Settings

In your WordPress admin area, open any WooCommerce product for editing. Scroll down to find the dedicated panel labeled Alpha Product Settings. This panel contains all the custom fields you need to manage your advanced product content.

1. Custom Product Accordion Tabs

Accordions are essential for organizing detailed product information like policies and technical specifications without cluttering the page. Alpha gives you maximum control over these tabs.

Default and Global Tabs

The theme automatically includes three standard accordion panes on every product: Product Details, Shipping Information, and Return Policy. You can edit their content directly within the product settings panel.

Adding Product-Specific Tabs (Repeater Fields)

To add unique, single-use tabs to one specific product (e.g., a “Care Instructions” tab only for a delicate item), use the dedicated field labeled Custom Accordion Panes For Current Product. Here, you can define the pane title and its content instantly.

For Advanced Users (Global Tabs): To add a new standard tab that appears across all products, you would create a new custom field under SCF → Field Groups and then link this field to an accordion pane within the Single Product Template (Woo Templates) using Kadence’s dynamic block features.

2. Managing Product FAQs

Alpha uses a structured approach to manage frequently asked questions, allowing you to display general FAQs across the store and specific FAQs per product.

Global Store FAQs

The FAQ section is powered by a custom post type called FAQ. You create and manage these items under FAQs → All FAQs. Any FAQ assigned to the category ‘FAQ in Product Page’ will automatically display on all your WooCommerce product pages.

Adding Product-Specific FAQs

If a product needs unique questions and answers, you can add them directly within the product editor. Use the repeater field under the FAQ Accordion Panes For Current Product section. These FAQs are unique to the current product and will not appear in the main FAQ admin area.

3. Setting Product Pairings and Comparison Products

The theme provides custom relational fields to enhance cross-selling opportunities beyond the default WooCommerce suggestions.

  • Use the Product Pairings fields to manually select items you want to promote as alternatives or additions.
  • Use the Product Comparison Set fields to select items perfect for a side-by-side comparison table.

How to Display Them on the Frontend

Once you select the products in the editor, you need to display them on the product page. Simply search for Product Pairings or Product Comparison in the Alpha Block Collection. These blocks automatically read and display the products you selected in the custom fields.
