Welcome to the Alpha Ecommerce Theme! Instead of providing just a standard theme file where you have to build everything from scratch, we provide a complete “Full Site Snapshot”.
This means you are not just installing a theme; you are importing the entire demo site – including all pages, product layouts, settings, and plugins – in one click. This ensures your shop looks exactly like the demo right from the start.
Important Prerequisite: Start with a Fresh Installation
Since this process imports a complete website, it will override your existing WordPress installation, including all posts, pages, products, and user accounts.
- DO NOT install this on an existing live shop with active customers or data you want to keep.
- We highly recommend using a fresh, empty WordPress installation.
Step 1: Download Your Files
After purchasing the theme, you can download your package from the link in your confirmation email or via your My Digital Journey account.
Inside the download, you will find:
alpha.my-digital-journey.com_xxx.zip: This is the complete site package (do not unzip this file).Alpha Ecommerce Theme – Essential Information: A pdf document containing important theme related information.
Step 2: Install the Migration Plugin
To import the Alpha package, we use the free and reliable “WPVivid Backup & Migration” plugin.
- Log in to your FRESH WordPress installation. DO NOT log in to your existing shop.
- Go to Plugins > Add New.
- Search for “WPVivid”.
- Install and Activate the plugin “WPVivid Backup & Migration”.
Step 3: Upload and Restore the Package
Now, let’s turn your fresh installation into a powerful ecommerce store.
- In your WordPress Dashboard, go to WPVivid Backup > Backup & Restore and find the Upload tab near the middle of the page.
- Drag and drop the
file into the upload area (or click Select Files).alpha.my-digital-journey.com_xxx.zip - Click the Upload button and wait for the progress bar to reach 100%.
Troubleshooting: Upload Stuck or Failing?
The installation file is approximately 100 MB. Some budget hosting providers set a strict upload limit (e.g., 64 MB). If the upload fails or gets stuck:
- Please contact your hosting support and ask them to “increase the PHP upload_max_filesize and post_max_size to at least 128MB.”
- Once increased, try the upload again.
- Once uploaded successfully, you will see the file listed in the Backups tab.
- Click the Restore button on the right side of the row.
- Confirm the restoration when prompted.
Note: The process may take a few minutes depending on your server speed. Please do not close the browser window until the “Restore Completed Successfully” message appears.
Step 4: Log In & Finalize Setup
Once the restore is complete, your site now mirrors the Alpha Demo.
Important: Your Login Credentials Have Changed
Because the database was restored, your previous WordPress user has been replaced by the admin user included in the package. You must now log in with the credentials that you can find in the Alpha Ecommerce Theme – Essential Information pdf document.
Security Step:
Please log in immediately, go to Users > Add User, and create a new admin user (by selecting the role Administrator) with your own email address and a strong password.
VERY IMPORTANT: After logging in with your new administrator account, please ensure you delete the temporary credentials provided in the pdf document. This is a critical security step to prevent unauthorized access to your site.
Step 5: Activate Your Licenses
The import includes all necessary plugins (like Kadence Blocks, ShopKit, etc.). However, to receive future updates and support from Kadence, you must enter your own license keys.
- Navigate to Appearance > Kadence (or the respective plugin settings).
- Enter your license keys for the premium plugins.
Congratulations! Your store is now fully installed and ready to be brought to life. To ensure your brand identity and shop settings are correctly configured, please follow our next guide: First Things to Do After Child Theme Setup.
